Although not much is known about this elusive and wonderful tasting fish they are believed to be one of the fastest in the ocean. There are not many places in the United States where one could charter a boat, target and expect to catch wahoo in good numbers. Cape Hatteras, North Carolina is such a place at certain times of the year.
WHEN: Wahoo can be caught here in any month of the year. Late summer, early fall are the best times to catch wahoo, but April, May, and June can sometimes produce large numbers of fish.
HOW: The methods our charter boat uses for catching these fish are trolling dead bait and artificial lures.
SIZE: These fish range from 12-100 lb. with the average being 25-50 lb.
LIMIT: Beginning September 2004 the wahoo limit is 2 per person.
